Nigerian Man Sells Non-Existent Covid19 Ventilators for ₦13.245 Billion to US Hospitals

Chidozie Collins Obasi, a 29-year-old Nigerian man, has been listed as sought in the US for alleged fr@ud.

Obasi is charged with defra(_)ding US hospitals out of $31 million (₦13.245 Billion) by advertising for sale COVID-19 ventilators that didn't exist. 

In a statement released on Friday, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) said that between September 2018 and June 2020, the suspect operated the sc@m out of Nigeria with the assistance of foreign co-conspirators.

A complex fraud operation allegedly netted Obasi and his associates more than $31,000,000, with the majority coming from the State of New York.

If found guilty, he may receive a term of up to 21 years in jail, five years of supervised release, a $5,750,000 fine, and compelled to pay back the whole amount of the more than $31,000,000 he is accused of having received through the use of fr@ud.
