It began when various blogs reported on Allwell celebrating Rotimi's recent 40th birthday. However, one outlet referred to Allwell as Rotimi's "alleged lover" due to their social media chemistry. This prompted laughter from the platonic friends and colleagues.
Sharing the report about his supposed off-screen lover, Rotimi lightheartedly promoted his new movie featuring Allwell. "My alleged lover is also in it," he quipped, showing no offence at the relationship speculation.
Allwell also seemed more amused than anything, commenting, "Their mind no go touch ground" in pidgin English. Essentially, she is brushing off the blogger's exaggerations about her birthday message for Rotimi.
While the two enjoy on-screen roles requiring chemistry, Rotimi has been happily married since 2015 to his wife, Jumoke. The smitten pair commemorated their 8th anniversary this June in matching floral outfits, dancing playfully.
So, while the idea of them portraying couples in Nollywood is believable off-camera, it seems their flirtatiousness is purely platonic joking between friends.
