Music Star Draws Criticism Over Video Footage
Famous singer Flavour N'abania has come under fire after video footage emerged of him bowing before the Ooni of Ife at a recent wedding event. The singer, known for hits like "Nwa Baby," performed at the high-profile ceremony, which various dignitaries, including the Vice President, Abia State Governor, and others, attended.
However, a moment captured on video showing Flavour bowing in apparent deference to the Ooni and another Northern leader prompted some dissent on social media. Several Instagram users voiced disapproval over the gesture, asserting that Igbo men do not bow before other men.
One comment said, "Igbo man no dey bow for anybody but his Chi [God]." Another urged, "next time, use two hands to shake him, but please, we don’t kneel for no man except God."
The commentary reflects ongoing cultural debates over displays of deference. However, Flavour has yet to personally address the footage or related reactions at the time of this writing.
